The In-karta card number is a ten-digit number in the format A BBC DDD DDD.

Meaning of individual digits:

A – Sequential number of a duplicate
This is intended for identifying duplicate In-karta cards. The first card has the number 0. In the event of loss, theft or destruction of an In-karta card, the cardholder will receive a duplicate, with the number 1, then the number 2, etc. At most, nine duplicates can be issued.

BB – Sequential number of the card
If the original In-karta card expires and the cardholder requests a continuing card, this number is incremented. The first card has the number 00 here; the first continuing In-karta card has the number 01, etc.

C – Card issuer number
This is intended for identifying In-karta card issuers in future. At present, the only issuer is ČD, which uses number 1.

DDD DDD – Cardholder number
This is intended to enable the issuer to identify the In-karta cardholder.
