Maintaining ČD’s high level of service in the face of ever-increasing competition on the transport market depends on the high-quality work of its employees – experts in technical, transport and business professions.

This area thus supports the enterprise’s basic goal – to recruit, develop and retain highly competent employees who are ready and able to achieve demanding goals.

The education of ČD employees can be divided into two basic categories. One is obligatory or required education, which serves to equip employees with expert competence for performing work activities, and particularly concerns employees in operational professions. This area of education is provided for ČD by its subsidiary, Dopravní vzdělávací institut, a.s. (DVI), together with language instruction as a required qualification for selected categories of ČD employees. The other category is expert and managerial education, which is provided by external educational institutions.

Projects Financed from the ESF

ČD realises projects under several Operational Programmes. In the area of education, it is focused not only on developing current and future employees, but also on the quality of facilities at instructional premises. For this purpose, ČD has realised the following projects:

  • Improving the adaptability and level of education of ČD employees – Ústí Region
  • Reconstruction of the ČD’s Česká Třebová Training Centre
  • ČD enhances employability

  • Innovative forms of cooperation between schools and ČD in the Vysočina Region
  • Innovative forms of cooperation between schools and ČD in the Moravia-Silesia Region
  • Development of skills among ČD operational employees
