As of today, passengers at Prague Main Railway Station can once again use the ČD Lounge. This waiting room has undergone a complete reconstruction, significantly increasing its size and capacity and creating the new Business Zone. The comfortable facilities for waiting provide travellers with a quiet environment, modern design and a range of free services.

The reconstruction of the Prague ČD Lounge took four months and brings not only a new look, but also a significant expansion of the space and an increase in capacity from the original 24 seats to 76. The aim of this work was to create a representative, modern and peaceful environment. “The modernisation of the ČD Lounge at Prague Main Railway Station is another step towards increasing the comfort of travelling with České dráhy. We want passengers to experience train travel as a comprehensive service that begins right at the station. The new lounge design offers a pleasant environment, ample space and services that satisfy current requirements,” says Michal Krapinec, chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of ČD.

The ČD Lounge now includes a Business Zone, which offers an even higher level of privacy and comfort in semi-separate cubicles. There are plenty of outlets for charging travel electronics and free Wi-Fi is also available. A pleasant atmosphere is created by a design element in the form of a moss wall, which brings a bit of nature into the interior. Other refined materials are used, including natural stone worktops. Most of the seating is from the traditional Czech manufacturer TON, the producer of the legendary “tonetka” bentwood chair. Other design elements, such as lighting, also come from Czech manufacturers.

“The expanded ČD Lounge offers travellers a quiet place to work and relax before their journey. The newly-created Business Zone and the overall layout of the space respond to the different needs of our customers, from a quiet rest before a journey to working on a laptop to travelling with children,” adds Jiří Ješeta, a member of the Board of Directors and deputy director general of ČD for passenger transport.

In the modernised ČD Lounge, travellers can enjoy a range of free services including coffee with a regular rotation of brands (among which are local roasters), accompanied by small sweet treats, soft drinks and in the Business Zone also a welcome drink. For passengers with children, children’s games and books can be borrowed from the staff and purchased in the ČD Fanshop.

Access to the ČD Lounge in Prague is granted to passengers with a valid České dráhy ticket or with an international ticket: passengers travelling in 1st class or with a seat reservation in 2nd class, holders of the IN 100 application in all variants, passengers with children under 10 years of age, pregnant women and persons with a disability ID card (ZTP or ZTP-P).

The cost of the modernisation was approximately CZK 5 million. České dráhy also operates ČD Lounges at the main railway stations in Brno and Olomouc.
