The Members of the Council of the South Moravian Region have decided about the selection of the operator of regional railway passenger transport on the S4 Line and the Centre Cluster.

Passenger transport from the change of timetables in December 2024 will be provided in the upcoming years by České dráhy with the existing rolling stock. Within the framework of the market consultation, the national carrier offered the most cost-effective variant. The South Moravian Region will pay approximately half a billion crowns per year for the operation of these lines. The contract will be entered into for a period of ten years with a possibility of an early termination due to the planned transition to hybrid vehicles. The presupposed output range on the S4 Line is 800,000 train-kilometres per year and in the Centre Cluster it is 2.84 million train-kilometres per year.

Ordered transport services will be provided mainly by the 842 and 843 class railcars with the use of trailer cars and control cars as well.
