The "Můj vlak" ("My Train") mobile application and the E-shop of České dráhy are undergoing an important improvement from this day, whose aim is to significantly simplify the purchase of train tickets. Passengers can now purchase electronic tickets for delayed trains up to the actual time of their departure. In connection with this change, the rules for ticket returns and compensation will be modified as well.

The online purchase of tickets was possible so far until the time of the scheduled departure of the train in question. After the train’s departure, the purchase in the mobile application was no longer possible, and passengers had to use other sales channels (ČD ticket offices) to buy the ticket. This is now changing and the new version of the mobile application and the E-shop will take into account the current delay of the train. Tickets will thus be available for purchase up to the actual time of the train’s departure from the station. Within the framework of the pilot sale, which starts on 1 November 2023, this will ensure sales for direct services without transfers, both tickets according to the tariff of České dráhy and tickets of individual integrated transport systems (ITS) included in ČD’s online sales channels.

If a passenger wants to buy a ticket in the time period between the departure of a train according to the valid timetable and its actual (delayed) departure, the beginning of validity of the ticket is automatically shifted by the actual delay of the train at the time of the ticket purchase. The end of validity of the ticket is automatically shifted by the actual delay of the delayed train only for IDS tickets.

Online ticket purchase for delayed trains

The purchase of tickets for direct delayed trains is supported by the new version (2.11.0) of the "Můj vlak" ("My Train") mobile application.

In connection with this new feature, the rules for ticket returns and compensation for delays have also been modified.

The standard conditions for the return of tickets will apply, provided that the delayed train is treated as running on time at the time of the ticket purchase for this purpose.

Example: a ticket for a train departing at 10:00 hours can normally be returned without deduction until 9:45 hours. If this train is delayed by 60 minutes at the time of the ticket purchase, the purchased ticket for the delayed train can be returned without deduction until 10:45.

The standard conditions for recognition of the entitlement to compensation for train delays apply, provided that the time of the train delay at the boarding station is deducted from the actual arrival at the destination station.

Example: an entitlement for compensation arises on a standard basis when a train arrives 60 minutes or more late at the passenger’s destination station. If that train is 30 minutes late at the time of the ticket purchase, the entitlement for the train compensation only arises when the train arrives at the passenger’s destination station 90 minutes or more late.
